About Manasource

An open knowledge base of evidence-backed health information, and an app that turns that knowledge into a daily practice.

What is Manasource?

Manasource is two things: an open knowledge base of what the evidence says keeps a body and mind working, and an app that turns that knowledge into daily practice. The library curates research on nutrition, exercise, sleep, and habits. The app lets you act on it — log what you do, see what each choice is worth, watch the effect accumulate.

The name is the premise. In games, mana is the resource you spend to act on the world. In life, that resource is your health — the foundation under everything else you want to do. Manasource exists to help you protect it, restore it, and grow it over the years.

What separates this from a tracker is the standard underneath: nothing counts as progress unless cited research says it moves the needle. Each logged choice — a morning walk, a protein-rich meal, magnesium before bed — carries a quantified effect that feeds persistent Buffs across domains like structural strength, immune resilience, and cognitive clarity. Buffs climb through Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary ranks; neglect one and it fades. Over weeks, your log becomes a map of the choices you have made and the ones worth making next.

A Foundation of Evidence

Every number in the app rests on cited research. Foods earn their place through clinical evidence, exercises because they map to outcomes that matter, supplements by the quality of their human trials — not their packaging.

That science is encoded as transparent, inspectable rules. When you log an action, its effect on your metrics and Buffs comes from the cited evidence. There is no arbitrary point system: every change in your profile traces back to the rule that produced it.

Open Source, Open Knowledge

The knowledge inside is public. The food lists, supplement research, exercise science, and health data live in an open library anyone can inspect and challenge.

Health information should not be a black box — paywalled, or quietly shaped by whoever profits from it. Because the evidence is public, anyone can check how actions are scored and see why an entry earned its place.

Quantified, Not Prescribed

The goal is not to track everything; it is to curate. The app surfaces only the most evidence-backed habits, foods, and exercises, so you do not have to weigh every gram of sodium to know whether you had a healthy day.

It also prescribes nothing. Ketogenic or plant-based, weightlifting or yoga — the system stays agnostic. It filters by the strength of the science and shows you the data; you build the practice that fits your body and your goals.

Turning Choices into Momentum

Every logged action feeds a Buff — a persistent measure of one domain of wellbeing, like structural strength or cognitive clarity. Buffs rise with sustained practice, decay with neglect, and every change traces back to a cited rule.

How Buffs work →

Local-First, Always Available

Logging is instant because everything saves to your device first. Offline, weak signal, airplane mode — it all works the same.

Back online and signed in, changes sync in the background and follow you across devices.

How to read the signals

Score and freshness are visible in every list row, so you can judge an entry before opening it — the score rates how well the evidence supports it. Open a resource to inspect dates, associations, references, and claims.

Source contract

Content syncs from the library's canonical source. Everything here traces back to a versioned source file — no hand-edits, no drift.
