Vigorous dance forms (salsa, swing, Zumba, hip-hop dance fitness) can reach 8–11 kcal/minute, comparable to jogging. Lighter forms (waltz, folk dance) provide moderate aerobic stimulus suitable for all fitness levels. Dancing is uniquely accessible across cultures, ages, and physical conditions, and its social and aesthetic dimensions transform exercise from obligation into pleasure.
